YEAR 2024: CALL FOR CANDIDATES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LLEIDA

ADDRESSED TO TEACHING AND RESEARCH STAFF FROM FOREIGN INSTITUTIONS WITH HIGH-LEVEL INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

General Description of the Program

  • The Serra Hunter Plan (hereinafter PSH) is defined as a program of excellence for the selection of contracted teaching and research staff at Catalan public universities.
  • The PSH Senior aims to hire teaching and research staff from foreign institutions with high-level international academic experience.

 

Program Characteristics

  • Type of contract: Distinguished Serra Hunter Professor.
  • Duration of the contract: maximum 5 years.
  • Financial allocation: €66,000/year.
  • Teaching load: preferably 120 teaching hours per year.
  • Annual call: 2024, 2025, and 2026.
  • Integration into centers: 2025, 2026, and 2027.
  • Possibility of stabilization as Full Professor before or at the end of the contract.

 

Maximum Number of Program Contracts

  • The number of positions within the PSH Senior framework will always be 10 distinguished professor contracts annually. The profile of the contracts will be defined once the final assessment of the proposals submitted by the universities has been made.
  • Each Catalan public university may submit a maximum of three proposals per annual call.
  • If all the universities that have submitted proposals meet the formal requirements and have one favourably informed, they will have an assigned allocation annually.

Objectives of this Call

  • The University of Lleida calls for the submission of applications for the year 2024 (incorporation in 2025).
  • All applications must involve the incorporation of talent and leadership for the University of Lleida.
  • Of all the applications received, the University of Lleida will select the best 3 following the criteria indicated below.
  • These three applications will be submitted by the University of Lleida to the PSH Senior program for the corresponding year, and it will be the PSH who will make the final evaluation and selection following its excellence criteria.

 

Call for the University of Lleida

Fields: Sciences, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, and Arts and Humanities.

Steps to follow for preparing the documentation:

1. Interested candidates must be teaching and research staff at foreign institutions and have high-level international academic experience.

2. They must contact the head of the department at the University of Lleida that best fits their profile, expressing their interest in the call.

3. The department head will designate a contact person to discuss the fit within the department, considering the high-level teaching, research, transfer, and leadership activities the candidate can develop in the department.

4. If both parties agree, the interested party will prepare the documentation indicated below with the approval of the department contact person.

5. Documentation to be prepared by the interested party:

a. Specification of the high-level teaching, research, transfer, and leadership needs that the person will develop in the department where their incorporation will be assigned.

b. A letter evaluating their profile within the corresponding field, their fit with the department, how they meet the expressed needs, and their expression of interest in joining the University of Lleida.

c. Complete CV (standardized model available).

6. Responsibilities of the department: the department head will inform the department members through a Department Council. Here, the department contact person can provide the necessary details regarding the candidate's fit within the department. Likewise, members must be informed of the characteristics of the PSH Senior, including the stabilization possibility as a Full Professor before or at the end of the contract. In the same council, the department's commitment will be approved so that, if applicable, the assigned teaching can be given to the candidate.

7. Documentation to be prepared by the department: a. Commitment from the department to assign the designated teaching to the candidate if applicable.

8. All documentation must be prepared in English.

 

The department will submit the documentation, and once submitted, the department itself, through the contact person, will inform the candidate that the application has been correctly submitted.


Submission of applications: all documentation indicated in points 5 and 7 of this document must be submitted electronically at the University of Lleida (Seu Electrònica; recipient: Vice-Rectorate of Professor or Vicerectorat de professorat in catala).

Deadline for submission of applications: 20th September 2024

 

Evaluation at the University of Lleida: each of the received applications will be evaluated by a panel formed by the Vice-Rector for Research, the Vice-Rector for Transfer, and the Vice-Rector for Professor, or their delegated persons. The evaluation will consider the candidate's teaching, research, and transfer experience based on the information presented in their CV (80%); and the teaching, research, transfer, and leadership activities the candidate intends to develop in the department where they will be assigned at the University of Lleida (20%). The panel will ensure that all fields are represented in the total calls of the Program, considering that the candidates must have high-level international academic experience.

 

Final Allocation of Applications for the University of Lleida

At least one of the applications sent by the University of Lleida to the PSH (3 per year) will have an assigned allocation if it meets the formal requirements and is favourably informed and selected by the PSH Academic Direction together with the head of the General Directorate of Universities.
