European Union students
Entry in Spain
Citizens of EU countries may enter Spain using a valid national identity card or passport.
Stay in Spain
If students intend to stay in Spain for more than three months or wish to work legally during their stay, they must register in the Central Register of Foreign Nationals (EU citizens).
To do so, they must attend the Police Station located at Ensenyança, 7 (MAP) with a prior appointment. The International Relations Office can request the appointment on the student's behalf.
Students will be issued with the EU Citizen Registration Certificate (Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión Europea). Further information is available on this website.

Non European Union students
Entrance in Spain
Students who are not EU nationals and reside outside the European Union must check the applicable requirements and documentation with the Spanish diplomatic mission or consular office in their country of residence. Further information is available on this website.
Stay in Spain
Students staying in Spain for more than 90 days and less than 180 days
If they enter Spain with the appropriate visa covering the entire duration of their stay (up to 180 days), they are not normally required to complete any additional administrative procedures.
If, in exceptional circumstances, they need to extend or renew their visa, they should contact the International Relations Office. We will provide guidance and assistance with the relevant procedures.
Students staying in Spain for more than 180 days
Within the first month after their arrival in Spain, students must apply in person for their Foreigner Identity Card (TIE).
To do so, they must attend the Police Station in Lleida with a prior appointment. The International Relations Office can arrange the appointment on the student's behalf.
